This great and beautiful summer is coming to an end....
After touring with Tété and Scott Fisher in June from LA to Seattle
(I did a video diary on this myspace website about this great adventure :

at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland on Friday September 19th (The

The Stereophonics are one of UK's most influencial bands of the last
ten years !! It's a great honour to be their supporting act in PDX :

Diary Day 9 "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
It's almost over…one more gig and all this incredible adventure is over….I'm happy because it was very successful by all means. Everybody got along really well and it was fun to hang out and share our different experiences.
However it's always sad when it all ends.
[Je suis heureux car cette tournée c'est super bien passée, tout le monde c'est très bien entendu, il y a eu de vrais moments de partagés...]

And thanx to all of you out there that support our music.

Diary Day 8 "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
Back Home...!! There is always that great sensation of driving back to Portland and a lucky and beautiful sunny day to be able to see Mount Hood from a distance :

We played at Berbati's Pan that night. The place was fairly packed which boosted my "moral". It always feels good to feel the "love" at home !!!

At the end, like the previous day in Seattle, we all did a few songs together, but but but....who's that guy that comes up on stage at the end ?? I still don't know today !!! lol :

At the end of the concert, loading our gear in the van we had a little surprise waiting for us outside just a few feet from the venue :

Diary Day 7 "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
When I was a kid Seattle for me meant : Rain, Nirvana and Pearl Jam.
Well we did not get any rain, and unfortunately we did not get to meet or see neither Nirvana or Pearl Jam :-(
[Quand j'étais plus jeune, Seattle rimait avec pluie, Nirvana et Pearl Jam....nous n'avons pas eu de pluie et malheureusement je n'ai pas non plus rencontré Eddie Vedder de Pearl Jam...la prochaine fois !!! lol]
After sleeping in Portland, the night before, it was a short 3 hour drive to Seattle.
We played at the High Dive that night a great medium size club in the Freemont neighborhood.
[Après avoir dormi à Portland, nous n'avons conduit "que" 3 heures pour monter à Seattle pour jouer au High Dive un club du quartier de Freemont]
A lot of French people showed up to the event and the place was really packed for a Tuesday night. Again what great energy, I felt really lucky and thankful to be there...That city has so much "rock history" in its veins that it's amazing for me to play my songs upthere.
[De nombreux français étaient présents dans la salle ce soir là. C'était une super sensation pour moi de jouer là connaissant toute l'histoire musicale de Seattle de Jimi Hendrix en passant par Nirvana et Pearl Jam...]
Scott was the first to open and then I played with my band and then Tété was up. We ended the evening playing 3 songs all together. Tété got everybody dancing during his set, he rocked the house !![Scott a été le premier a jouer. Ensuite c'était mon tour. Tété a fait un super set, tout le monde était debout et dansait, fiesta !!!]
Diary Day 6/6eme jour "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
Something you don't always realize moving from France to the US, is how big the distances are. Today was a long day of driving from Sacramento, California to Portland, Oregon. It took us about 13 hours...
What do you do in the van all this time ??? Here is the answer :-) :
[Parfois j'oublies à quel point les Etats-Unis sont un pays vaste et étendu. Les distances ici sont immenses. Le trajet de Sacramento en Caiifornie vers Portland dans l'Oregon dure 13 heures par la route en van...que fait-on dans un van pendant 13 heures ? La réponse ici :]
Diary Day 5 /5eme jour"la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
We had time today to chill out and take advantage of the sun.
I went swimming in Chris' parents pool and then we all went to have breakfast after whatching a little bit of Spain vs Italy from the Euro 2008.
It was a short drive to Elk Grove, where we were going to play for a house concert in a ranch house. It was a beautiful summer evening
[Ce matin j'ai eu le temps de profiter du soleil caifornien et de la piscine...j'évacue un peu des restes de la fête d'hier soir...lol. Après avoir regardé un peu du match de foot Espagne-Italie, ce qui nous a valu une dance de censure de Tété devant la télé lol, nous partons tous ensembles prendre un petit déjeuner à l'américaine dans un "dinner". Pour aller faire un "House concert" (concert privé dans la maison d'un particulier), la route n'était pas très longue. C'était une superbe soirée d'éte....que la fête commence]
Jerry Hannan a great singer songwriter was also sharing the bill with us. One of his songs "Society" was sung by Eddie Vedder on the "Into the Wild" soundtrack (Jerry Hannan "Society")

[Jerry Hannan qui jouait aussi avec nous ce soir là est un auteur compositeur interprête (un songwriter comme on dit par ici) incroyable. Il a écrit une des chansons chanté par Eddie Vedder sur la BO du film de Sean Penn "into the Wild" (Jerry Hannan "Society". The entire house party was "great success" (as Borat says...lol). All 4 acts (Tété, Scott Fisher, Jerry Hannan and myself) all played some songs together and people seemed to be having fun and every body was dancing...
That evening we all slept at a Hilton hotel near by (thanx Rick for the rooms !!!) and Jerry was kind enough to play us some of his songs in one of the rooms were we all gathered. Tété and Mark Evilsizer were so tired that they fell asleep listening to his beautiful tunes !!! What a way to end the evening...
[Toute cette soirée a été une super réussite, à la fin de la soirée tout le monde dansait et nous faisions tout des titres ensemble...Merci Tété et Scott pour les coeurs sur Hey Ya ! Old School lol. A la toute fin de soirée nous avons tous attérris dans une chambre d'un Hilton pas très loin de là et Jerry nous a fait la gentillesse de nous jouer quelques dernières chansons....]
Diary Day 4/4eme jour "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
[Nous sommes arrivé tard hier soir à Davis en Californie dans la maison des parents de Chris, le pianiste dans le groupe de Scott]
We left the next day, June 21st, Fete de la Musique Day, at 9 h 30 to go up to San Francisco to do the soundcheck for our gig at Justin Herman Plaza facing the Embarcadero. What a setting.
I have worked so hard on all that tour that I have to admit that seeing us all over there and seeing that beautiful stage facing those buildings is AWESOME (a word commonly used here in California, lol ) !!!
[Aujourd'hui c'est la fête de la musique et je suis aux Etats-Unis ! J'ai travaillé tellement dure sur ce projet, que me retrouvé là en plein centre de San Francisco était comme un rêve...]
Scott was the first one of us to play live... I then played a set. I looked up a few times while I was singing just to enjoy the moment. Tete followed us. It was incredible to see how stressed out he was for his first gig on the West Coast. Of course all went really well and he kicked ass

After hanging out a bit in SF, and signing a lot of Cds (awesome !!!) we headed back to Davis to spend the night. On the way there everybody was hungry. When 8 people are hungry at the same time it sometimes becomes a adventure lol ! (the funny part is that we had to go back to get Anthony's onion rings !!!! lol) :

At the house that night Scott and Bob improvised on a song. I regret not having my camera at the time…what a beautiful moment. Everybody was enjoying themselves, we were in California and I was tripping on some amazing music…what a day !!!
[Ce soir là Scott, Chris au piano et Bob à la guitare ont improvisé ensemble des mélodies magiques...J'étais en Californie, je venais d'y célébrer la fête de la musique...et je faisais un métier que j'aime...que rever de mieux ??? Heureux enfin Heureux !! ]

Diary Day 3/3eme jour "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
We spent the first part of the day recording some vocals on one of Scott's songs (sirène) that is going to be on his next album. Jesus Chuy Flores is working with Scott on producing this forthcoming album. The song has a reggae feel to it. Tété was the first to start doing background vocals. A great Tété vibe ! It was fun to see the energy and the personal touch he brought to the song, a lot of soul !!!
[Nous avons passé la journée à enregistré des voix sur une chanson de Scott dans un studio à LA avec Jesus Chuy Flores un producteur reconnu et ami de Scott. Tété a été le premier a commencer. C'était mortel de volir la touche très personnelle qu'il a apporté à la chanson...]

It was also interesting to disover how Scott, Chris (keys) anc Bob (guitar) work together. Chris actually has the perfect pitch. Through out the trip one of our game is to ask him to give us the key in which a guitar solo is in or even play a note on the Glockenspiel and have him give it to us...
After that studio session we went to pickup Enrique, Scott's drummer and did a quick stop to eat a hamburger before we hit he road. We left Los Angeles pretty late (9pm) heading North towards Davis near Sacramento. A 6 hour drive was ahead of us...
[C'était aussi très intéressant de voir comment Chris, le pianiste de Scott et Bob le guitariste travaillent ensemble. Chris a l'oreille absolue et un de nos grands jeux pendant le voyage était toujours de le tester de lui jouer une note et de lui demander de deviner ce qu'elle était....Après le studio en route vers le Nord et Davis proche de Sacramento]
On the road the human interaction between people is very important. You are on top of each other all the time, so it's better to get along well...! :) Scott Fisher and his boys have already their habits being so used to traveling in the van together, we just blended in...I rapidly learned that some spots in the Van (for example the ones near the windows are the best to sleep because you can rest your head against it !!! It's a blessing Scott has this van...
[Sur la route et à 8 dans un van l'intéraction entre chacun est cruciale...c'est mieux de bien s'entendre !!! lol. Scott et ses "boys" voyagent souvent ensemble en tournée et sont habitués à de longues heures de route...les places proches des fenêtres sont stratégiques car on peut mieux se reposer...]

Diary Day 2 /2eme jour "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
[Aujourd'hui était la première vraie journée à Los Angeles. Nous avons appris que notre concert du soir à Los Angeles avait été annulé ; ça commence fort !!! lol. On décide alors de retrouver Scott et ses musiciens à North Hollywood après une de leur répète. Après des mois de préparation sur ce projet, cela fait du bien d'enfin se retrouver tous ensembles. Scott rencontrait Tété pour la première fois:::]
We also discovered that the gig we were supposed to have at the Crash Mansion got cancelled....grrrrrr !
We decide to catch up with Scott Fisher after his rehearsal and head out to Manhattan beach to go and eat sushis with all the musicians that will be on tour with us of all 3 bands...
After working and preparing this tour for so long, it was a beautiful feeling to be all together...
After the sushis, we then go to the Boogaloo Club at Hermosa beach and saw the band Population Game (www.myspace.com/populationgame ). After that we hung out at Justin Hopkin's Appartment. He played us a few songs, what a great artist ! Great voice, great songs and great guy, check him out : http://www.myspace.com/justinhopkins

Diary Day 1/1er Jour "la Fête de la musique comes to America tour 08"
Here I am in Los Angeles...I just arrived from PDX by plane, I hadn't been in LA for 15 years !!! I forgot how BIG !!! :

Ca y est Los Angeles...je suis arrivé par avion de Portland, cela faisait 15 ans que je n'avais pas mis les pieds a LA !!! J'avais oublié comment c'etait GRAND !!! :]
Après Tété arrived by the flight Air France 0072 coming directly from....Paris !!!
It's a real pleasure to see him again and to be able to chat with him again...:-)

C'est une réel plaisir de le revoir et de pouvoir rediscuter avec lui de choses et d'autres. Cette tournée a vraiment debuté sur de bonnes bases... :-)
Le soir nous sommes allés faire un tour dans Hollywood et LA (Sunset Blvd et Hollywood Blvd avec toutes les étoiles des stars incrustées dans le trottoir et les empreintes de stars du showbiz dans le bitume :]

Hello,
Thank you for being part of my musical journey.
Every June, the French holiday "Fête de la Musique" (Festival of
Music) welcomes musicians -- both amateur and professional -- to join
an ecstatic and eclectic cultural happening. Hundreds of thousands of
performers and listeners take to the streets and clubs to engage in a
literal "free-for-all" celebration of music. Imagine a mash up of
Mardi Gras, SXSW and Bonnaroo simultaneously taking over the streets
and the stages in every major city in America!
Since its beginnings in 1982, the "Fête de la Musique" has come to be
celebrated in over one hundred countries throughout five continents.
This year we are bringing the festival to the US in the form of a
west coast tour with :
- Tété, a mutli-gold selling artist in France who just returned from
a 300 day World Tour through Japan, Australia, South America and

un e-mail me disant qu'il voudrait bien faire un "road trip" aux
Etats-Unis et venir faire des concerts avec moi au pays de l'oncle
Sam.

rêvée de joindre l'utile à l'agréable...

Barack Obama in Portland, Or, Sunday May 18th, 08
Hello,
72 500 people (yes 72 500 !) were on the waterfront on Sunday to see Barack Obama speak. For a city of the size of Portland it is enormous...
Today is election day in beautiful Oregon and I wanted to share with all of us, some video footage I did of this event. The atmosphere was very friendly. and many different people from different backgrounds and origins gathered together. The weather was great.
Personnaly I wanted to go to listen to the man a lot of people have been talking about. I also felt it was a special moment I wanted to share with my fellows Portlanders. I was not disapointed. The speech was interesting and fun to listen too. He definitely has talent and gives you a great deal of positive energy.
My general feeling coming out of this rally was very postive. He has a new aproach to politics and makes you want to move forward. He is clear and concise. He also seems to believe in his incredible destiny, I guess you could call it faith.
However I put down my emotional side for a moment and listened to the more "French side" of myself, more sceptical 
It was bugging me with this question : can I trust him ? It's easy to make promises and sweet talk...but concretely what will happen...?
I finally followed my gut's feeling and decided to do trust him. I really hope he will get elected today, and in November. However I think the hardest is to come. A lot of challenges and hard work is ahead far from the hope of this campaign. Reality bites sometimes !! lol

72 500 personnes, pour une ville de la taille de Portland (1 million avec sa périphérie) c'est un record !
72 500 personnes donc sont allés voir Obama parlé dimanche dernier.
Votant aux Etats-Unis, étant passionné par cette campagne comme beaucoup d'américains, je ne voulais pas non plus raté cela. J'avais aussi envie de partage un moment spécial, un moment historique en quelque sorte (toute proportion gardée évidemment ! lol).
Je n'ai pas été déçu par mon premier meeting politique.
A l'heure où aujourd'hui les gens votent dans l'Oregon, pour une des dernière élections primaires du parti démocrate, j'avais aussi envie de partager ce moment avec vous en France qui passez par ma page régulièrement ou qui atterrissez ici par hasard. J'ai donc fait une courte vidéo "faîte maison", avec des sous titres en français afin que vous puissiez capter un peu l'atmosphère de ce moment.
Le personnage Obama est très intéressant. Il dégage quelque chose de très humain et positif. Ses talents d'orateur sont indiscutables. A plusieurs moments pendant son discours, il me donnait des frissons.
La foule présente était quand à elle très variée et étéroclyte. Il y avait des gens de tous les ages, de différentes orgines, grand ou petit. C'était très convivial et bon enfant.
Les idées défendues en politique intérieure par Obama sont progressistes et proches de celles que peuvent défendre parfois le Parti socialiste en France, notamment quant à l'intervention de l'état. Il est reste cependant évidemment très américain dans son approche des choses.
Un des thèmes qui me séduit le plus chez lui (surtout venant de France et en voyant l'image désastreuse que Bush donne des USA) est son approche de la politique extérieure qui est moins agressive que Clinton ou Mc Cain (Irak, fermeture de Guantanamo, Négociation avec l'Iran) .
Une fois mes émotions mises de coté, je me demandais néanmoins si je pouvais vraiment lui faire confiance ? C'est toujours facile de faire de belles promesses et de balancer des belles paroles...j'étais donc parfois sceptique...
Au final j'ai décidé que oui et j'ai voté pour lui. Il a une façon neuve et différente de faire de la politique, de parler au gens (de façon responsable). Je ne le trouve pas du tout moralisateur ou paternaliste comme un certain nombre de politiciens que ce soit en France ou aux Etats-Unis d'ailleurs...il implique sont électorat dans le processus et ne nous parle pas comme à des enfants de 4 ans. Les temps changent...lol
J'espère sincèrement qu'il soit élu. Il véhicule des valeurs d'espoirs et de changement. Je reste cependant convaincu également que le plus difficile reste à faire...

Together, we worked with OLCC staff on the rule itself, raised awareness for the potential of these changes amongst musicians, venue operators and promoters. Letter and email writing campaigns to the OLCC showed strong support for the rule, and many attended and testified at the hearings.

Day 5 : Le Making of le video "le Puzzle"
Here we are..it's that time again, the time we call THE END. It's this weird feeling of having acheived something we are proud of and at the same time having to deal with the grief of the adventure finishing. "Every new beginning is a new beginning's end" as Semisonic put it. So true. I guess these mixed emotions are married together.
In other more straight forward words, It's done...the video of "le Puzzle" is finished. Everything is in the box. Thanx so much to all the crew for all this hard work and see you on tuesday for the release of the Video !!

Ca y est, "this is the end" comme dirait Jim Morrisson. La vidéo est en boite. Toute l'équipe a travaillé d'arrache pied et nous sommes tous très fier du résultat. La vie est ainsi faîte, paradoxale parfois. Chaque nouveau départ est la fin d'une autre aventure. J'imagine que tout cela a un sens de savoir d'où on est parti.

Bonjour,
Lors de l'enregistrement de mon album l'ODyssée, j'ai eu la chance d'avoir à mes côtés, pour deux chansons, l'un des meilleurs rappeurs et producteurs de hip hop de sa génération, j'ai nommé Feniksi du Saïan Supa Crew (http://www.saiansupacrew.com). Je viens d'ajouter à mon profile myspace (www.myspace.com/ericjohnkaiser), la principale collaboration musicale de Feniksi sur mon disque la chanson le Puzzle.
L'histoire de cette chanson est intéressante. Je l'ai composée il y a quelques années et je l'ai jouée de nombreuses fois guitare/voix lors de mes nombreux concerts. Lorsque nous sommes rentrés en studio, tony à la batterie cherchait encore une rythmique. On a un peu callé dessus. Or au même moment pendant un des jours off, nous sommes allés voir tous ensembles avec le groupe, le film Walk the line sur Johnny Cash. Tony est ressorti de là avec l'idée de rythmique sur le Puzzle. Quelques jours plus tard c'était au tour de Feniski du Saian de poser ses lyrics.
J'ai été époustoufflé par le résultat. Il m'a dit que c'était la première fois qu'il chantait comme cela sur en studio. Avant il n'avait pas osé et ne faisait "que" rapper ! Pour quelqu'un qui a vendu plus d'un million de disques, cela m'a troublé, flatté et honnoré.
J'adore cette chanson car elle est pour moi une belle histoire artistique et représente un super équilibre entre un son Folk rock et des lyrics hip hop et davantage rappées. J'en suis très fier et je remercies Féniksi du fond du coeur de m'avoir donné ce beau cadeau.

US CD Release Show review/Chronique de concert
Our US CD Release show was last Saturday, June 9th, at Chez Machin a French Restaurant in South East Portland. It was a great nght ! The place was packed. Over 30 people were not able to come in...Glups ! I always feel sad for those who came all that way and did not get to see the show.
The people that got in seemed to have enjoyed it very much. That makes me happy ! I promise next time there will be more space and no chairs so people can dance...

Samedi dernier nous avons fait notre concert de lancement de l'album l'ODyssée aux Etats-Unis dans un restaurant du côté de Hawthorne, un des quartiers branchés et on va dire "bobo" de Portland.
Quelle soirée ! Plus de 30 personnes sont restées dehors et n'ont pas pu voir le concert !
Celui-ci c'est remarquablement bien passée et les gens présents ont adorés notre prestation ce qui est toujours un bonheur. J'ai essayé de les faire danser et se lever mais ils étaient tous assis. Certains se sont quand même laissé aller.
La prochaine fois, promis j'y arriverais. Je commencerais par virer les chaises, lol.

US CD Release Party : A French night in Portland
Our American CD release party of "l'ODyssée" will be in Portland on June 9th, 8 pm, at Chez Machin (3553 SE Hawthorne, Portland, OR 97214 (503) 736-9381).
There will be French Music of course (with support from the band The Keys from Toulouse, France), French food and of French wine.
