Richard Collins
November 2006

Winter is slowly settling in in Portland. It even snowed today and yesterday. When I first arrived in Portland this summer it wasn't like that. The weather was nice and gentle not like the winter rain that seems to glue to your skin and clothes. I played a few times in the street at that period of time. I use to grab my guitar and my little companion dog and go and find a spot on a staircase a few blocks up from where I live.

That's where I met Richard Collins - a busker. He used to play everyday at the same location. Everyday with the same guitar, a beautiful steel Dobro, and everyday with the same patience. Richard has this kind and gentle voice that tells stories that smell of cigarette and cofee. He tells stories that all rhyme with "Blues". "Le Blues" as he wrote it down on the Cd he sells. It fits him well. He was kind enough to let me film him and to tell me about his life. Here is a "too" short video of that superb artist, Richard Collins, you should encounter if you wonder around the streets of beautiful Portland someday ...
